Cristiano Ronaldo has been accused of "talking s***" by Frenchman Adil Rami after the Al-Nassr star said the Saudi Pro League was superior to Ligue 1. The 39-year-old has played in three of Europe's top leagues - including the Premier League and La Liga - but is now plying his trade in the Middle East. Ronaldo chose to head to Saudi Arabia after his Manchester United exit with leading lights in the country determined to improve the domestic scene.
Huge sums have been spent to lure quality to join Ronaldo, but the league still has a long way to go. Despite that their biggest name has claimed that his team play in a superior league to the French top flight - which has copped criticism from some. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner claimed that "France only has PSG. The rest are finished" whilst he also pointed to the competitiveness in Saudi Arabia with a number of clubs capable of winning the title.
Rami, who has won 36 caps for Les Blues and played for the likes of Marseille and Lille, has laughed off Ronaldo's comments and claimed the veteran would've endured a tough time if he spent his last two years playing in France. He said on his Twitch account: "He talks s***. You want me to show you images of the defenders in Saudi Arabia. It's not because he's had a crazy career that as soon as he says something it's the truth. I think it's a PR stunt. We have defenders, they are machines! You put him in Ligue 1 and he gets eaten.
