Dad charged with murdering one-month-old baby son who suffered horror injuries at home

A DAD has appeared in court charged with murdering his one-month-old baby son. Atticus Bartlett was rushed to hospital after suffering critical injuries at home in Chard, Somerset. Tragically the baby couldn't be saved and was declared dead in hospital on 23 July, 2022. Atticus' dad Tony Bartlett appeared at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court charged with murder. The 38-year-old was remanded into custody to next appear at Bristol Crown Court today.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the local neighbourhood team will be in the Chard area. Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Lorett Spierenburg said: “This is a deeply sad case in which a young baby, who was only a few weeks old, has tragically lost their life. “An extensive police investigation has been carried out, led by our Major Crime Investigation Team, over the past two-and-a-half years which has led to Bartlett being charged and appearing in court this week.
