Daniel Kretinsky's West Ham ties and chances of full takeover after billionaire's Royal Mail deal West Ham minority shareholder Daniel Kretinsky has finally been cleared to complete his purchase of the Royal Mail.

Kretinsky's EP Group has now been approved to wrap up its £3.6bn takeover of the Royal Mail's parent company, International Distribution Services (IDS), subject to certain conditions.

The 49-year-old has more than doubled his wealth since first investing in West Ham – who won the UEFA Europa Conference League 18 months ago – three years ago.

That represents a similar share to the 27% stake Kretinsky already holds in the Hammers, after he and business partner Pavel Horsky became directors of the club in November 2021.

The Czech business mogul – who boasts an estimated net worth of around £6billion, according to the Sunday Times Rich List – already owned more than 25% of the British postal service.
