Director David Lynch died after being "forced to relocate from his house" amid the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, reports claim. As the infernos rage on across California, thousands have been forced to evacuate their homes, and the death toll has now climbed to 27. Authorities are deploying cadaver dogs to search for victims concealed by rubble.
The family of David, known for directing 'Twin Peaks', confirmed his death on social media but did not disclose the cause. The tragic news comes after other sorrowful revelations, including the cause of death of TikTok sensation Chris O'Donnell at age 31, leaving friends in mourning, and an '80s singer discovered brutally murdered.
David had been battling emphysema, which he disclosed last year, and in November, he shared that he required supplemental oxygen for walking. A source told Deadline that David's health deteriorated significantly after the Sunset Fire forced him out of his home.
His family's statement on Facebook read: "It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time." Tributes have been pouring in for the late legend, with loved ones sharing, "There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us. But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.' ... It's a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.".
Revealing his battle, the filmmaker spoke out about his emphysema diagnosis last August. The chronic lung condition, which results from damaged air sacs, made it hard to breathe – a consequence of smoking since the tender age of eight. Covid-19 struck fear into David, leaving him housebound due to vulnerability concerns post-diagnosis, signalling an end to his illustrious career spanning over five decades.
