Police have said they need the public to "help" them find a missing schoolgirl who was last seen in a café. Scarlett, 13, was last seen at 4.10pm on Tuesday in the village of Sywell in Northamptonshire. Police said she was wearing her black school uniform at the time. Anyone with information has been asked to call 101. A statement from the force on social media said: "We need help to find missing 13-year-old Scarlett, last seen at 4.10pm today (Tuesday, Feb 4) in Sywell, wearing her black school uniform. Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting ref MPK1/377/25. Thank you.".

Responding to the appeal on Facebook, members of the local community said they hoped she was found soon. One wrote "hope she’s found safe and well soon", while another said: "Hoping she is home." Others claimed to have spotted her in the area. According to the most recent figures, over 170,000 people are reported missing each year, equivalent to about one person every 90 seconds. The vast majority of them are found quickly, including around 80% of missing children within 24 hours and 85% of adults within two days. Official police says that if a missing person is in immediate danger, is a young child or vulnerable to harm, you should 999 as soon as possible.

If someone is missing but not in immediate danger or vulnerable, you should call friends and family, search search the home or wherever they were last seen - including lofts, gardens, sheds or garages, and look for any notes or other clues. You can also ring round local hospitals Police forces are also keen to stress that a missing person will not be in trouble or be arrested for going missing, and that these reports are treated as concerns for wellbeing.
