Buying a new car is always exciting – especially when you've saved for months to get behind the wheel of your dream ride. But getting to grips with a new motor and figuring out all of the new buttons can be tricky. One man was left baffled after purchasing a shiny new Peugeot, clueless about what one mysterious button does.

Its icon shows a car with what looks like Wi-Fi signals in the middle and 'OFF' written below it. Taking to Reddit for information, he posted: "Just bought a new car. What does this button do? I could not find anything on the internet.". One user joked: "Makes the car into a Wi-Fi router." Another also quipped: "Microwaves all the occupants in an emergency." A third added: "Internal thermonuclear device. It explodes everything inside the cabin. But it is safe for those outside." Another user cracked "Automatic pizza cutter." Someone else chipped in with a classic: "Ejector seat.".

Turns out, he's not alone in his confusion over the button, as another driver took to a Peugeot forum to share their own bewilderment. They said: "I just got myself a 2014 Peugeot 308 and have found a button on the dash and I have no idea as to what it does?.

"It's to the right of the steering wheel. To me it looks maybe like some kind of radar detection maybe, so mobile speed camera or something. Can anyone shed some light on what it does as I was hoping if I pressed it, it would come up on the centre console screen what it does but nothing happens.".

However, one clued-in motorist was able to explain the mystery button's function. They responded: "I think you press that to turn off the volumetric alarm when locking the car so that if for example you have left a dog in the car it won't set the alarm off. You press it just before getting out and locking the car.".
