On Tuesday night's EastEnders, viewers learnt the outcome of Phil Mitchell's tragic suicide attempt. In heartbreaking scenes which aired on Monday night, Phil fell into a pit at the Arches, after purposely leaving a car engine running. Despite many fans fearing for Phil's life, he was saved by Harry who called an ambulance while opening up the Archers. Phil made a full recovery and went back home although his loved ones have been left deeply concerned, including ex wife Sharon and friend Nigel.
During the last few months, the character has been experiencing loneliness and depression as viewers have watched on as he isolates himself from the rest of the square. Next week, Phil's brother Grant Mitchell makes his return after Nigel reaches out, but fans think the return of yet another Mitchell could be on the cards. At the end of Tuesday's episode, Phil's mental health worsened. He was heard ranting, but as the camera panned, viewers noticed no one was there. "What do you want me to say?" he could be heard explaining. "I know what you want me to say. I know he's a good bloke, I know that he's looking out for me. And I know that I'm pushing people away, so what does that make me?" he questioned. As Phil's psychotic symptoms intensifies, and he's left in crisis, fans predict the return of yet another Mitchell.
"This would be a good time for Sam to come back too and give something back instead of her usual take, take, take," said one. "I think she might give Nicola a run for her money too. While another agreed: "I know Sam and Phil aren't on good terms but having her return along with Grant would be great to see cause no matter FAMILY is the most important thing for the Mitchells. Ultimately she loves and cares for her brother as does he. Sam and Grant could help Phil.".
Last year, Sam Mitchell left the Square after needing Phil's help bailing her out of a debt to a drug lord. However, Sam publicly exposed her brother's infidelity, and was warned to leave Walford by the rest of the Mitchells. Despite this, fans are hoping the Mitchells can all come together in Phil's time of need. Along with the return of Ross Kemp, as his character, Grant, the soap will see the return of Jaime Winstone, as she reprises her role as a young Peggy Mitchell as Phil hallucinates scenes from the family home in 1985.
