Gardening enthusiasts have been sharing their wisdom on social media platforms in recent years - offering advice on everything from lawn care and pest control to pruning and weed management. One such group is Mrs Hinch Gardening Tips on Facebook, where user Avril Simpson recently sought help for a common problem. She posted: "Help please! I have a large paved area in my garden and have tried many different types of garden tools to get rid of the weeds growing between the slabs.
"Cannot use weed killer as I have dogs. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you." The post was flooded with responses, with the most popular suggestion being to use a weed burner. Lynne Cottam suggested: "A gas or electric weed burner might help.".
April Grant recommended: "Weed wand that's what I use as got dogs too." Jane Campey added: "I also have a large paved area and a dog. For a number of years, I have kept the weeds at bay by using a weed burner. "Saves so much time and hard work (and bad back) and [it's] very easy to keep on top of the weeds as they pop up." A weed burner uses thermal heat to kill plant cells without dangerous flames, eliminating weeds without harmful chemicals and saving your back.
Weed burners can be purchased from various retailers for prices ranging from £11 to around £70, reports the Express. The Marksman Handheld Butane Gas Weed Burner Blaster costs £10.90 on Amazon, while the Hozelock Green Power Thermal Weeder will set you back £70 from Argos, and the Weed Burner Blowtorch is priced at £19.99 from B&Q. Mrs Hinch's followers have also pitched in with their own home remedies, including sand, salt, white vinegar, and boiling water.
