LORRY LEGEND Eddie Stobart has sadly died aged 95. Mr Stobart's representatives confirmed this morning he had passed away on November 25. The businessman was born in 1929, in Cumbria and originally worked as a farmer before he founded his trucking empire, named after his family, alongside a farm shop in the 1940s.
Their first lorry was a second-hand Guy Invincible four-wheeler, and started travelling on UK roads in 1960. The truck featured the famous Eddie Stobart green and red colouring. Today, the company now owns and operates more than 2,500 vehicles. His youngest son, Eddie, took over the firm in the 1970s and helped transform it into an industry giant.
