The richest man in the world has already been given a significant position in the administration of the future president of the United States. He has been invited to lead a government-efficiency drive, attend transition meetings, and even play golf with the next commander-in-chief.
But it looks like Elon Musk doesn’t want to stop there, as he has now set his eyes on the UK. According to the leader of Reform UK, the two “did talk about money” when they met Monday at Donald Trump's resort in Florida. He also said that the computer tycoon was “fully, fully behind us” and that he is a key funder and backer of Mr Trump's re-election campaign.
“He wants to help us, he's not opposed to the idea of giving us money, provided we can do it legally through UK companies,” he stated. In 2024, Mr Musk developed a keen interest in UK politics, particularly after the riots that took place triggered by the Southport killings.
Here’s a rundown of everything the 53-year-old has said about the UK. British politicians have long criticised Mr Musk, the owner of X, for not toughening controls on the platform’s online content, especially that which is accessible to children, and for allowing far-right figures back on to his social media platform.
However, the far-right riots that erupted in English cities and villages during the summer of 2024 put him in direct opposition to Sir Keir Starmer's newly elected government in July. Mr Musk first declared on X that a civil war in the UK was “inevitable” and, when more rioters were imprisoned for inciting violence on social media, he grew increasingly concerned about the Government's actions.
