It is fair to say that Elon Musk does not mind making his feelings public and is known to be a man who does not mince his words. In recent months the tech mogul turned political adviser has been more than outspoken in his views on world politics. As well as backing incoming president Donald Trump, he has been accused of trying to influence the German election and very outspoken in his views of the UK political scene.

In the last week, Keir Starmer was driven to respond to the Tesla owner and multibillionaire’s online rants, which included a string of claims against the prime minister in reference to the grooming gangs scandal. Musk claimed Starmer was “complicit” in the scandal and called for him to resign, prompting the prime minister to respond. He also hit out at former prime minister Gordon Brown over the scandal, saying he knew what was going on and turned a blind eye.

During a speech in Surrey on Monday, Starmer said “robust debate” must be based on “facts and truth” and not on “lies from those so desperate for attention”. “Those that are spreading lies and misinformation as far and as wide as possible, they're not interested in victims, they're interested in themselves,” Sir Keir said.

“Those who are cheerleading Tommy Robinson, who went to prison for nearly collapsing a grooming case, are not interested in justice.”. Gordon Brown also labelled Musk’s allegations as "a complete fabrication". A spokesperson for Gordon Brown said there was "no basis" for the allegations made against him.
