TEARFUL tributes have been paid to two children who were killed in a suspected hit-and-run. The boy and girl, believed to be siblings, died at the scene in Pitsea, Essex, around 6.30pm on Saturday. Mourners left dozens of flowers and cards at the roadside today next to a football training top. One message read: “I’m so sorry that you both have been taken away far too young. “My thoughts and prayers are with everything that had the joy to know you both, especially your family.”.
A man and woman arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision remain in custody. Detectives were seen carrying out door-to-door enquiries while appealing for CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the fatal crash. Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper, of Essex Police, said: “My thoughts are with the friends and family of the girl and boy who have died.
