Erling Haaland has reportedly signed a staggering nine-and-a-half-year contract at Manchester City, which will commit him to the club until 2034. According to the Athletic, Haaland the contract extension removes all previous release clauses in the star's deal.

Haaland's new deal is reportedly one of the most lucrative sporting contracts of all time. The Norwegian forward would be 34 years old when his new contract expires. Haaland's existing deal had been due to expire in the summer of 2027. The extension will provide a major boost to Man City amid a difficult season for the reigning Premier League champions, who are currently sixth in the table, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Despite Man City’s struggles, Haaland has maintained his stunning goalscoring form having netted 16 times in 21 matches in the top flight this season. Only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has scored more in the Premier League this campaign with 18. Haaland has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances for Man City in all competitions since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.

The 24-year-old earned a basic salary of £375,000 each week in his existing contract. Mail Sport understands that while Haaland receives a basic salary which is in line with the other higher earners at the Etihad Stadium, a series of substantial, almost-guaranteed bonuses have seen his weekly wage surge beyond the £850,000 mark.
