Erling Haaland to sign astonishing new Man City contract which won’t expire until 2034

Erling Haaland said it was an ‘easy decision’ to extend his stay with Manchester City after signing an astonishing nine-and-a-half-year new contract to keep him at the club until 2034. The Norwegian striker, 24, has scored a remarkable 111 goals in 126 games since joining City from Borussia Dortmund for €60million (£51m) in 2022.
Haaland’s current deal was due to expire in June 2027, with long-term speculation linking him with an eventual move to Real Madrid. However, City have now tied down their prized asset for the vast majority of his career with a new deal that would run out when Haaland is 34.
Reports suggest that the new contract removes the exit clauses present in his current deal and is one of the most lucrative deals in the sport’s history. Haaland has already won two Premier League titles as well as an FA Cup and Champions League during his time at City and is said to be extremely happy living in Manchester.
His new deal virtually guarantees that he will surpass current boss Pep Guardiola’s tenure at the club, with the Spaniard likely to leave after his latest deal runs out in in the summer of 2027. Explaining the reasoning behind signing a new deal, Haaland told the club website: ‘Having spoken with the people I spoke with, the hungriness, the support I’ve been getting over the last couple of years from the board, all the bosses and from Pep, in the end, it was an easy decision and I’m delighted.
