A former Premier League stalwart has departed a coaching position in League One after just just one week in the job. For more than a decade the 36-year-old was a mainstay in the top flight, turning out for Middlesbrough, Wigan and Sunderland. After hanging up his boots following a brief spell in the Eredivisie the former England youth international has remained in football, embarking on a career in coaching.
Having briefly returning to the Riverside to serve as under-18s lead coach, Lee Cattermole joined Bristol Rovers earlier this month. Serving as part of Matt Taylor's backroom staff, Cattermole was tasked with assisting with 'a focus on the development and implementation of set pieces.
Just four days after Cattermole arrived at the Memorial Stadium Taylor was sacked, with the club languishing in 15th in League One having won just two of their last 11 league games. Former Premier League midfielder Lee Cattermole has reportedly left Bristol Rovers just a week after arriving at the club.
After Matt Taylor was sacked earlier this week Cattermole and fellow first-team coach David Horseman took temporary charge. However, the 36-year-old is said to have since departed the club as their hunt for a new boss continues. He was then placed in interim charge of the club alongside former Forest Green boss David Horseman.
