A heartbroken German shepherd named Lucia, who has spent her entire life chained to a tree, is in desperate need of a new home. Lucia lived among the dead in a graveyard for nearly four years before being rescued by Freedom Angels Romania, an organisation that assists with rescue operations in Romania and rehomes dogs in the UK. After learning about Lucia's tragic situation, the team took her in and have since been on a mission to find her a loving forever home. Lucia's existence was confined to a six-foot chain, her days filled with pacing around the tree until she reached the end of her tether, only to start all over again.

Even after being liberated from her chains by kind-hearted rescuers, Lucia continued this repetitive behaviour for several days. Her adoption profile reveals: "Lucia spent her whole life tied to a tree in a graveyard. There were rarely visitors to the graveyard so she just spent her days among the dead. Lucia survived on scraps and drank from a " Lucia survived on scraps and drank from a "dirty and dank bowl for water", taking refuge under an old oil drum when the weather turned bad.

Despite her bleak past, Lucia is described as a "bright and immensely loving girl" who thrives on human interaction. The statement continues: "She is currently in our kennels in Wiltshire. Another love is food and this does help with training. She is super smart and has easily worked out her interaction toys.". "Unfortunately being so clever doesn't work well when a dog is in kennels and she does get very bored.".

Lucia, a beloved canine currently under the care of rescue staff, is being hailed as an "exceptional dog" for the right person prepared to invest time into training and acclimatising her to a new life. Her carers have specified that Lucia's perfect match would be someone over 25 without young children (under 16) at home. She requires a secure, private garden and shouldn't be left on her own for extended periods – ideally no more than four hours. The team has explained: "Although Lucia loves humans, she does not like other dogs.".

Lucia's plight has drawn heartfelt sympathy online with one Facebook user proclaiming, "Oh dear beautiful Lucia! We are trying so hard to find you the right foster. My heart breaks for you.". They added words of support: "You look so much better now and your foster will find you soon. Hang in there my smart girl. Good things come to those that wait.". Another comment brought hope into the conversation: "Someone with German Shepherd experience would love her. Hope she gets a home soon.".
