EXCLUSIVE: Scottish Championship teams fear new TV deal will end up LOSING them money Scottish Championship clubs fear they will *lose* money under the terms of a new broadcasting deal with BBC Scotland.

Teams in the SPFL’s second tier have approved a bid by the corporation to show a maximum of ten more games per season on the BBC Scotland channel for a seven-figure sum.

Aware that the collective loss of income from another ten fixtures would be ‘not insignificant’, Championship chairmen accepted the deal on the table after agreeing that the importance of securing more exposure for the league trumped finance.

The new agreement will allow BBC chiefs to show a maximum of 30 fixtures across the season and incorporate a weekly highlights package from Leagues One and Two on the broadcasters’ website.

The cash goes straight into the overall prize pot distributed among all 42 senior clubs - rather than to the ten teams in the league.
