The family of murder victim Robert Darby are calling for the case conviction to be overturned as they believe the "wrong man is in prison.". Mr Darby, 42, was stabbed to death outside the Valentine pub in Gants Hill, East London, in 2005, and a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Jason Moore.

Moore, who fled to Spain and Dubai following the attack, was eventually sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of murder in 2013. Almost two decades after the incident, Moore’s family continues to campaign for his innocence, adding that they have fresh information that could prove he wasn’t behind the attack.

Mr Darby’s family have also spoken out, joining calls for Moore’s conviction to be overturned amid claims there might be evidence to suggest that he was innocent. The Criminal Case Review Commission (CRRC) recently confirmed they are reviewing an application concerning the case.

As reported by the BBC, the CRRC said: “It would be inappropriate for us to discuss the application or make any further comment at this stage.”. Darby’s family recently voiced their support for an appeal, saying: “This conviction is an insult to reason and fairness, and every day the Criminal Cases Review Commission delays action deepens this failure.
