The family of a woman who disappeared on the Isle of Mull more than a week ago say they "just want to know that she is safe". Claire Halliday, 35, was last seen in the Fionnphort area in the southwest of the island on Tuesday 7 January. Police Scotland has launched a major search, saying it is "unusual" for her not to be in touch with her family and friends for this length of time.
In a statement released through the force, her family said: "We're really worried and concerned for Claire. We just want to know that she is safe. "If you have any information regarding Claire or where she might be, please contact the police to help us safely find her.".
The search crew has included mountain rescue partners, a Coastguard helicopter, and the police's dog branch. The force said it has been focusing on the Fionnphort, Loch Poit na h-i and Knockvologan areas. Door-to-door inquiries have been carried out across the island and officers have spoken to local businesses and ferry operators. Available CCTV footage has also been reviewed.
