The real surprise to me is that Porto are languishing in the elimination zone - nobody saw that coming. But as we saw with Manchester City yesterday, they are not out just yet. I'm sure they are going to put up one hell of a fight away at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The bottom seven sides already know their fate, and it's not good, but for the others, the fight is on. Whenever I do these types of posts, the table always makes me realise just how crazy this new format is. Believe it or not, this photo only contains half of the teams in the Europa League group phase.
I know it's nuts, isn't it?. Anyway, while I may be baffled by it, the top half of the table tells us a lot going into the final matchday. Both Manchester United and Tottenham are sitting happily in that top eight, but there is no guarantee that that's where they will finish the night.
They both need to win to make sure of their place in the knockout stages, but even a draw could get the job done depending on results elsewhere. Meanwhile, Rangers need a miracle if they are going to progress automatically - they are destined for the play-offs.
