Forget about tablescaping, a maximalist mantel or even glamming up your tree. If you really want to make a design statement this Christmas, it’s what’s outside your home that counts. ‘Doorscaping’ – the art of making an entrance look festive – is having a moment.

Restaurants, clubs and hotels – from The Ivy Chelsea Garden to Annabel’s and Claridge’s in London – were early adopters of the trend, investing in making their venues stand out with showstopper doorways. And the trend has trickled down to the rich and famous. Presenters Amanda Holden and Holly Willoughby, and musician Tom Fletcher, have all displayed epic examples of doorscaping on social media.

But they’re not getting out the balloon pump and the sticky-back plastic themselves. Instead, wealthy Christmas enthusiasts enlist professional decorators. Holden posted a video on Instagram (in November!) showing a whole team of workers decorating her house from top to bottom… tree, banisters, hearth and, yes, doorscape included.

Gushing about the ‘stunning’ display, she thanked Early Hours, a decorating firm specialising in ‘festive doorways’ that has worked with Harvey Nichols. Candice Brathwaite, a best-selling writer, recently unveiled a colourful take on the trend outside her Buckinghamshire home, too.'.
