Former Premier League star returns to England after his contract with Turkish club was cancelled after just five months

Jonjo Shelvey has joined Burnley after his contract at Turkish side Eyupspor was cancelled by mutual consent. Shelvey made just six appearances for Eyupspor after joining from Caykur Rizespor last summer. The 32-year-old possesses a wealth of experience having featured in the Premier League for four different clubs, as well as logging six caps for England between 2012 and 2015.
Burnley, managed by Scott Parker, are currently in third place in the Championship as they look to secure a return to the Premier League. A statement confirming Shelvey's departure from Eyupspor read: 'We have parted ways with professional football player Jonjo Shelvey by mutual consent.

The 32-year-old last played in England for Nottingham Forest before leaving in summer 2023. Shelvey expressed his excitement over his return to English football, stating that he aims to help Burnley in their bid to play in the top flight next season. 'It feels amazing to get it done,' Shelvey told the official Burnley website.
'It's been quite a long process, but it's all done now and I'm excited for it. 'I like the club as a whole, every time I have played against Burnley at Turf Moor it's been tough. 'But I'm part of this team now and my aim is to do my best to help this club get back into the Premier League, where it belongs.'.
