Nadiya Hussain has emotionally revealed the one lesson she hopes her 14-year-old daughter will learn from her while reflecting on a lifelong struggle with self-image. The Great British Bake Off winner, 40, is based in Leeds and has three children - two sons, Musa and Dawud, and a younger teenage daughter, Maryam.

Appearing on the cover of Prima Magazine's March issue, Nadiya said: 'If I can just teach my daughter to love herself, that’s my job done. 'Even if I spend a lifetime loathing myself, if I can teach her to love herself, that’s all I need. 'She’s so, so confident; nothing like me when I was 14, and I love that about her. I wasn’t raised that way, and I wasn’t reminded that I was beautiful and that I could do brilliant things.'.

Nadiya, who is British Bangladeshi, told the publication that she grew up in a household full of 'very, very teeny, tiny people' with the experience. The chef, considered Bake Off's most successful contestant, realised at an early age that she was 'bigger' than her siblings.

'I felt shame, because I was bigger than they were,' Nadiya said. 'I look back now and I think, "Really?" Many of us look back and think, "Why did I loathe myself so much in those moments, because I look absolutely fine!". Nadiya, from Leeds, won the hit BBC baking show in 2015, and was catapulted into fame.
