Generation Z employees from around the world are having their parents accompany them to work so they don't have to do the commute alone. Young people starting their first job was once the start of their reduced dependency on parents. However, a growing number of young people are sharing their parents taking them to work on TikTok.

It comes after a recent survey discovered that one in four Gen Z job seekers have brought their parents to a job interview. American TikTok user Meg, who goes by @tacobellebaybee, shared a clip with the writing: 'My dad took the train with me into the city to practice walking to work because my first day is Monday'.

The video, which received over one million views, had a mixed reception. One said: 'This is very sweet. But a little Lol. Grew up in NYC in the '80s and started taking the train alone at 13.'. A second added: 'Wow I was so alone in my 20's figuring life out in a completely new city. Pretty empowering.'.

However, others disagreed, adding: 'Your dad is adorable! This is so sweet. I hope you stay this close with him forever.'. Gen Z are having their parents take them to work and are sharing videos of the commute to TikTok, including UK-based Cece (pictured).

'You are so blessed, you have a dad who knows the true meaning and responsibility of being one', said another. Taking to TikTok, Kourtney Kogel, 27, from Seattle shared a video of her parents practicing her commute with her ahead of her first day. 'POV you're a 27-year-old teenage girl starting a new job next week and your parents insist on practising your new commute with you,' she wrote.
