THE German Masters will begin TODAY - with some huge names competing in Berlin. After the Masters at Ally Pally, attention now turns to another hotbed of snooker's global circuit. World No 1 Judd Trump, the defending champion, will be aiming to bounce back from his semi-final loss to Kyren Wilson in London.
The winner of the second Triple Crown event of the snooker season, Shaun Murphy, will also enter with an envious glow after his exploits. Ronnie O'Sullivan withdrew from the Masters earlier this month with the World Snooker Tour releasing a statement citing his withdrawal was on "medical grounds.".
O'Sullivan told Eurosport: "It was a nightmare decision really to make. "If you had asked me on Sunday if I was ready to play, I'd probably have been OK. It is such a massive tournament.". The Rocket has endured some rough form in early 2025, with three consecutive defeats in the non-ranking Championship League in Leicester.
And the seven-time world champion will not feature at the German Masters after pulling out on medical grounds once again. The draw for the first round is below but the full schedule and order of play is yet to be released. It will be updated as soon as it is confirmed.
