Harry and Meghan branded 'disaster tourists' by Family Ties actress after joining LA wildfire volunteers

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been labelled “disaster tourists” by Hollywood star Justine Bateman after they joined Los Angeles wildfire volunteers. Harry and Meghan visited victims of the disaster, as devastating wildfires continued to sweep through LA and forecasted strong winds threatened to push flames towards the city's cultural landmarks.
The death toll from devastating wildfires has climbed to 24, while at least 16 people are missing, with that number expected to rise. Harry and Meghan were seen hugging volunteers near the fire and speaking to first responders alongside Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo.
The Mayor told Fox News the pair had been anonymously serving food with masks on and that they had seen the destruction “first hand”. Family Ties star Bateman said Meghan and Harry were “no better than ambulance chasers” after seeing footage of the couple visiting victims.
She wrote on X: “What a repulsive ‘photo op’ they achieved. They are ‘touring the damage’?. “Are they politicians now? They don't live here; they are tourists. Disaster Tourists.”. Mayor Gordo also told Fox News that the royal couple had visited families in the area impacted by the fire.
He added: “This is their second visit today. They were here earlier serving food…They didn’t come out here for publicity they came out here to work.”. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hugged residents and spoke to emergency crews at a meal distribution site for people affected by the fires on Friday.
