Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be forced to flee their home as the Los Angeles wildfires ravage on. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pictured consoling victims affected by the blazes over the weekend, but now, they are on the cusp of evacuation themselves. Their hometown of Montecito has been placed under a red flag warning as hurricane-force winds head towards them, putting the pair in extreme danger of losing their $29million (£24m) mansion.
The Montecito Fire Department has said the strong winds, which are expected to pick up today, could cause flames to 'grow rapidly' and 'behave erratically'. They have warned residents to be 'ready to evacuate' if necessary. This means that Harry and Meghan, who only opened their doors to evacuees and loved ones four days ago, may have to leave their home.
It is believed that Harry and Meghan are prepared to evacuate Montecito with their two young kids if the situation arises, with sources saying they are ready to go into 'crisis mode'. It was reported last week that the couple's security team had been coordinating an evacuation plan while packing essentials for their children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
A neighbour said: "It's not chaos here yet but the fire is moving fast and we are not taking any chances." The couple and their neighbours have been given public safety survival kits containing a solar charger, flashlight, protective equipment, ice, water, snacks and safety pamphlets. They are also believed to have donated supplies to people affected by the blazes.
