A hero dad with a certain set of skills tracked down his missing daughter after she got into an unknown car outside her home, in a tale straight out of a Hollywood film. Emmarae Gervasi, 14, vanished from Long Island, New York, on December 9 after getting into the vehicle without shoes or a coat, despite cold temperatures. Her father, Frank, began a frantic search akin to the Liam Neeson movie Taken to track her down as the community worked together to find Emmarae.
Frank also put out a $10,000 (£7,900) reward for anyone who could help him bring his daughter home and a tipster suggested she was on a boat. Solo, he “busted it” and saved his daughter from an unknown fate, 26 days after she vanished. He told Long Island News 12 : "I did find her myself before police got there. It was the end of 26 days of hell seeing her alive in my arms.
“It was a gift from God. I can't describe the feeling I had when I grabbed her.". He added on Facebook: “I got an anonymous tip yesterday, and I want to thank that person for coming forward and giving me information about my daughter. The phone call that I received was that she was on a boat in Islip. I followed it up on my own and I went down there to check.
“I bust into the boat and recovered my daughter. She has been saved and is alive. I believe it was persistence that helped bring her home. “I found Emmarae, she is safe and recovering. Thank you all for the support which helped bring her home. Thanks to the 5th squad and US Marshalls and the squad for their tireless efforts. Also, thanks to the community for the help and UPS store in Shirley for their donations on fliers.”.
