High Potential fans have been told to watch a 'guilty pleasure' crime drama to help ease the wait for new episodes. The new Disney+ series stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a single mother of three who works as a cleaner. Morgan has an extraordinary mind and ends up being hired as a consultant to the LAPD after she helps solve an unsolvable crime by rearranging some evidence during her shift at the police station.

Created by Drew Goddard and inspired by the original French Belgian show called HPI, it has quickly become the most-watched title on Disney+ in the UK. Since it was first released on the platform last month, viewers have been full of praise for the show. Some have even labelled it the best show of the year so far. One fan posted online saying: "High Potential is easily the best new broadcast show of the 2024-25 season. The other new shows don't even come close. Beyond thrilled for Kaitlin Olson, who's finally been given a starring vehicle worthy of her talent.".

At the time of writing, new episodes are being added each Thursday, meaning viewers are still not able to enjoy the series in full. However, the good news is that there is an alternative that fans are being advised to check out while they wait, which shares some similarities with High Potential. Elsbeth is another crime procedural show that fans may find they love just as much. Its entire first season is available on Sky Witness or via a NOW Entertainment membership.

It boasts a 91 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is only five points lower than High Potential's 96 percent, and fans of both shows claim they are like female Columbo. The series is actually a spin-off of The Good Wife and The Good Fight and features a character that appeared in both of those shows. Elsbeth Tascioni, played by Carrie Preston, is an astute but unconventional attorney who works with the NYPD to catch New York's most well-heeled murderers, utilising her unique point of view. How Elsbeth works cases has drawn comparisons to HPI, the show on which High Potential is based, and even the main characters' eccentric fashion senses are similar.

Viewers seem just as keen on Elsbeth as High Potential, with one fan posting online: "Absolutely marvellous from Carrie Preston's performance to the scripts, locations and filming. It's a murder mystery with a wry sense of humour.". Another added: "I absolutely love this show. I remember her from The Good Wife and always thought how smart and quirky and patient and determined she was. The storylines are done so well and each unique episode grabs you from the beginning. With everything going on in the world today it’s nice to have a show that you can sit back and relax and enjoy and forget everything else.".

However viewers don't need to have watched The Good Wife before to enjoy Elsbeth, as the series takes on a very different tone. One viewer commented: "A guilty pleasure show I'll tell everyone I love. My favourite thing about Elsbeth is how she makes herself comfortable in uncomfortable situations. She embraces her awkwardness and cares not for the ' weird eyes' all around her. Her gaudy wardrobe and the discomfort she causes warm my heart. ".
