Amazon Prime Video fans have unearthed a family crime drama they claim’outshines’ Peaky Blinders. Viewers are gobsmacked that ‘no one is talking’ about Animal Kingdom, which even stars an actor from the hit BBC show, Finn Cole. First aired in 2016, the thriller follows Finn’s character Joshua ‘J’ Cody who moves in with his estranged relatives, the Codys, who run a criminal family enterprise in California, after the death of his mother.
Animal Kingdom ran for six seasons until its end in 2022, with all series available to binge-watch on Amazon Prime Video. TV fans have been raving about the ‘forgotten’ series which has been hailed as ‘the best’ crime drama. On Reddit, Turbulent-Truth-4059 urged: ‘How is no one talking about how good ANIMAL KINGDOM IS🔥🔥🔥 watch it.’. Up Next. Agreeing, FineJellyfish4321 raved: ‘Yes!!! I always recommend it and a lot of people don’t even know about it. I didn’t until last year but once I started I was absolutely hooked! That is hands down one of the best shows I’ve ever seen!’. jwC731 added: ‘Highly underrated show imo.’. The OP said: ‘I don’t know if any of you guys have seen Peaky Blinders BUT to the ones who have: did you notice the similarities between the shows or is it just me?? The family dynamics in both shows are similar and Finn Cole’s role is pretty much the exact same in both series:.
slardybartfast8 boldly claimed: ‘Animal Kingdom blows Peaky Blinders out of the water. Animal Kingdom is a TV adaptation of the 2010 Australian film of the same name, which in turn was inspired by the real-life Pettingill crime family. Headed by matriarch Kath, the Melbourne-based Pettingill family have been handed many convictions for crimes over the years including drug trafficking, arms dealing and armed robbery.
Animal Kingdom is not the only Amazon Prime Video show that has flown under the radar. Branded ‘outstanding’ by viewers, The Last Hour revolves around the life of a mysterious shaman who can talk to the spirits of dead people Devi (Karma Takapa). The Indian supernatural series sees Devi’s talents deployed to help solve the investigation into the brutal rape and murder of an actress. He communicates with her soul and relives her last hour in order to amass clues to crack her killer’s identity.
However, Devi’s life is also under threat as he is being hunted down by a dangerous figure from his past. Viewers who have devoured the Hindi-language series have labelled The Last Hour ‘criminally underrated.’. Among them is Reddit user RaatKiRaaani, who said: ‘Such a unique show it was, I remember watching it waay back. It’s criminally underrated they need to bring another season ASAP it has great potential.’.
