ACTRESS Brooke Shields has accused ex-husband Andre Agassi of turning into a control freak. The Hollywood star, 59, also recalls her shocking “public feud” with Tom Cruise in a new memoir out next week. Brooke claims she married tennis ace Agassi in 1997 partly to break the spell of her alcoholic mum Teri, who allowed her daughter to strip on screen when she was 11.

She writes: “My mom was a hugely controlling force in my life. When I married my first husband, Andre Agassi, I walked into another controlling, rigid relationship, and for a while I did whatever he said.”. Their split just two years later was blamed on Agassi’s addiction to crystal meth.

In Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed To Get Old, she also reveals movie star Tom Cruise apologised for attacking her use of anti-depressants. Brooke suffered from post-partum depression after the birth of daughter Rowan by second husband Chris Henchy. Her Scientologist pal Cruise, 62, called her “irresponsible,” and suggested vitamins and exercise instead.

At the time, Brooke shot back, saying: “An interesting opinion, coming from someone without ovaries.”. In the book, she writes: “His attack left me gobsmacked. I was never one to find myself in a public feud.”. Revealing that Cruise eventually apologised, she adds: “Not publicly, which would have been the right thing to do, but he came to my house and said he was sorry.
