Shepard was famed for starring opposite Elvis Presley in 1958's King Creole and 1966's Paradise, Hawaiian Style.
As well as acting alongside Elvis, who died in 1977, Shepard had a glittering TV career.
Speaking about her first encounter with Elvis, Shepard recalled: "I went in the office and I was waiting to be called in.
Shepard made her TV debut in 1952 on Fireside Theatre - one of the first successful filmed television shows.
