Police have launched an appeal after a 7-year-old girl was seriously injured in a quad bike crash in West Yorkshire. The young girl, who was understood to be a passenger on the quad bike, was reportedly thrown from the off-road vehicle after it collided with a telegraph pole in High Street, Kippax.
The passenger, who West Yorkshire Police have not named, suffered “serious and life-changing injuries” following the Boxing Day collision and is now being treated in hospital. However, it’s believed that her injuries are not life threatening. Images from the scene featured a telegraph pole that had been bent after the green quad bike appeared to have collided with the kerbside pole head-on.
Police have since arrested a 16-year-old boy in relation to the incident on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Two people in their thirties have also been taken into custody on suspicion of child neglect. Police are now appealing to the public for more information about the incident, which took place near the Old Tree Inn pub on December 26, 2024 just before 10:30 pm.
West Yorkshire Police are urging people with CCTV or dashcam footage of the green all-terrain Honda TRX420 being ridden around Kippax in the evening to come forward. According to local authorities, the quad bike was still on the scene of the crash on Friday afternoon, and a section of Kippax High Street had been cordoned off and guarded by police vehicles.
