Dust bunnies may seem like a constant issue in your home, even if you're diligent with cleaning. However, a few houseplants could help alleviate the problem. A plant and gardening expert has compiled a list of four houseplants that can help eliminate dust, reducing the need for dusting products. Spider plant. This slender, bright green houseplant with distinctive creamy-white stripes is "excellent at removing dust", confirmed gardening enthusiast and expert Steve Chilton, director at Leisure Bench - making it a fantastic addition to any home.

"Spider plants are relatively low-maintenance and can thrive in various light conditions," said Chilton. This means they could be placed in any room in the house that naturally accumulates the most dust. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) stated that this evergreen perennial requires no pruning and is generally disease-free, making it an easy addition to your home. Snake plant. Mr Chilton also highly recommends the striking snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata), also known as the mother-in-law's tongue, reports the Express. "These plants are known for their ability to purify the air by converting carbon dioxide into oxygen at night," he told Ideal Home.

The RHS says the low-maintenance snake plant thrives in indirect sunlight indoors, so it prefers a partially shaded area in the home. Don't worry if you notice any small nicks or scars on the leaves of the snake plant; this is a sign of maturity, not disease or a dying plant. Peace lily. If you're looking to spruce up your home and tackle dust, the stunning peace lily (Spathiphyllum wallisii) is a top choice. Mr Chilton explained: "Peace lilies have beautiful white flowers and are effective at filtering dust and other allergens from the air.

"They also help in reducing levels of formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene. Peace lilies prefer low to moderate light conditions and require regular watering.". According to the RHS, these plants with their striking white flower-like spathes flourish in warm environments and favour rainwater over tap water. Although they may need a bit more TLC, including wiping down their leaves to remove accumulated dust, peace lilies bring a sophisticated vibe to any room.
