How to get two months off work in 2025 using just 27 days annual leave

Is it just us, or did 2024 whizz by? It seems like barely any time has passed since we were making resolutions for the year, and now we're reflecting on whether we stuck to them or not. As we approach the end of the year, it's the perfect time to start getting next year's annual leave booked in. Given the dark and dreary weather, it's great to have the promise of a sunny holiday to look forward to, and booking your leave now means avoiding any clashes with colleagues if you try and wangle time off at the last minute.
Of course, there's the eternal debate about how best to use your days off: ration them for summer breaks with friends, or use more up in the darker months to get some much-needed winter sun. But what if we told you there was a way to secure two whole months off work next year – and it uses just 27 days of your leave?.
Book in your days now to ensure maximum time off. Travel booking company Omio has calculated exactly how to plan your annual leave in 2025 to maximise your time off. It involves working around next year's bank holidays to bump up your allowance, resulting in an entire 60 days free from work.
For starters, there's Easter. Given most of us get Good Friday (18th April) and Easter Monday (21st April) off work anyway, booking four days off on either side will result in 17 days off, using just eight days of annual leave. It's a similar story in May. There are bank holidays on Monday 5th and Monday 26th, so taking four days off after each will mean you get two lots of nine days of holiday. Then in August, tagging four days on after the bank holiday on Monday 25th will mean another nine-day break.
