Arsenal and Newcastle will be aiming to gain a major advantage in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi final tonight (January 7) when they meet at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta will be looking at the home leg as a chance to move the Gunners into pole position to reach the final, with the second leg set to be played at St James' Park on Wednesday, February 5. Arsenal head into the clash off the back of a 1-1 draw with Brighton on Saturday in a game that saw the north Londoners suffer a firm blow to their title hopes.

Newcastle, who beat Brentford in the last round, haven't won a domestic trophy since 1955. However, they did reach the Carabao Cup final in 2023, only to be beaten by Manchester United.
