In London, hundreds of thousands of people will be joining the crowds in an attempt to snag a good spot to watch the festivities in person. On New Year’s Eve, BBC One will be airing Sophie Ellis Bextor’s New Year’s Eve Disco from 11.30pm featuring live coverage of London’s fireworks display. At midnight, the New Year’s Eve fireworks will blast into the sky as Big Ben chimes to bring in 2025.
Then, at 10 past midnight when the display is over, Ellis-Bextor’s programme will continue with even more performances. The synopsis for the BBC programme reads: ‘This New Year’s Eve, Queen of the dance floor Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be joined on stage by fellow disco sensation Jessie Ware, Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears, Emily Roberts guitarist with The Last Dinner Party and the MDL Singers, who are guaranteed to bring in 2025 on BBC One and iPlayer with plenty of glitz and glamour!.
