Now, an insider from the musical has laid bare details of their behind-the-scenes chemistry, years before they finally confirmed their romance earlier this month.

'At intermission, Sutton and Hugh would stand and hug for a minute, two minutes in front of the entire cast coming up the stairs,' they said. 'The cast had to climb four flights of stairs to get to the dressing rooms. And they would stop on Hugh's floor and just hug in their costumes.'.

Sutton, who was married to screenwriter Ted Griffin at the time, previously said they would 'hang out' in her dressing room, which was on the floor above his, before every show. Although the insider never saw the duo in there, they did notice their 'long embrace' which would take place 'every night'.
