A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two people were injured in a double stabbing in Hull early on Saturday. A 35-year-old man was found with serious injuries after a stabbing in the city’s Barnsley Street at around 2am. His condition was initially thought to be life-threatening, but has since improved.
A woman was then found with life-threatening stab wounds an hour later in Rosmead Street, around a mile away. Detectives with Humberside Police said a 48-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder after inquiries throughout Saturday.
Officers said they were treating the double stabbing as an “isolated incident” between two people known to each other. Detective Inspector Mark Skelton said: “Following multiple lines of enquiry over the course of the day, a 48-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder.
“The 33-year-old woman remains in hospital with life threatening injuries, and the 35-year-old man remains in hospital with serious injuries which are no longer thought to be life threatening. “I would like to offer my reassurance that we believe this to be an incident between individuals known to each other, and the local community can expect to see a continued police presence in and around the area over the course of the weekend.
