A woman has admitted to charging her family per head to eat at her house over the Christmas period - saying it's too expensive otherwise. Abi, who is known as @abilourichards on social media, has shared how she is billed her eight adult family members around £30 each to eat at her house for three days.

While she would never ask them to contribute directly, she was pleased they offered as otherwise she would be greatly out of pocket. In a TikTok video, she shared how she went to Aldi and Tesco to complete her big festive shop to cover Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

At the end of her food shop, she totted up the total cost and divided it by the eight adults attending. She said: "Thank the lord that it's pay day tomorrow because I can't even bring myself to think about how much I have spent today. "Between Aldi and Tesco, I spent £233.35 on everything related to Christmas food. So that divided by eight adults - because the kids eat barely anything - is under £30 per person. I actually don't really that that's bad for three days worth of eating.".

Rounding down, Abi decided to ask her family to contribute £25 each towards their meals. Curious to know whether others would charge their families to eat with them at Christmas, she asked her followers how they go about things. While some users believe it's "only fair", others say they wouldn't dream of charging their family or friends to eat at their house. One user commented: "My mum fed me all my life into adulthood. I’m not charging her a penny.".
