A mother-of-two was horrified to find that two colourful stationary sets she bought for her daughters contained a pocket knife - which SHEIN describes as 'sharp' and 'easy to carry'. Ann-Marie Bennett, from Sutton Coldfield, purchased the stationary sets for her daughters Abbie and Alice, five and eight, before they went back to school in January.

The retailer notes that the blade is 'sharp' and 'easy to carry', adding the set is 'ideal for teenagers'. Trading Standards for Walsall Council is now investigating the sale. A spokesperson said: 'It's unacceptable that an item like this is being sold for children, the safety of our residents is our priority so we will investigate the matter accordingly.'.

SHEIN declined to comment as the customer had not reported it to them. After noticing the blade, Ms Bennett immediately removed the stationary kit from her eight-year-old daughter's school bag. She feared that if five-year-old Abbie had played with the knife, she could have been seriously injured.
