A lucky NHS worker who won a £3million home with a £20 raffle ticket has said 'she'll never have to worry about money ever again'. Catherine Carwardine, 62, won the stunning six bedroom home in a 2022 Omaze Grand Prize draw. The house - which overlooks Lake Windermere - came mortgage free, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered.
It boasts a cinema room, a gym with access to a sauna and an outdoor log cabin-esque seating area equipped with fire and panoramic views of the idyllic Cumbrain countryside. Mrs Carwardine had the choice to either live in the incredible house, rent it out for a supplementary income or sell it whenever she wished to become a cash multi-millionaire.
However, Mrs Carwardine then fell in love with the property as soon as she walked through the door and the family decided to make it their home. She said: 'I can still remember the moment we found out about the win, it was April's Fools' Day and we were away when we got the call, so we thought the kids were playing a prank on us at first.
'But then we soon realised we'd actually won a £3m house - and we were just in total and utter shock. When we got back home the children greeted us on the driveway with champagne spraying everywhere, we felt like F1 drivers!'.
