Incredible seaside village named 'Bali of the UK' for one jaw-dropping reason

As beautiful as much of the UK is, we're not exactly known for our exotic-looking coastlines. However, a post on TikTok revealed a remote area in England that has been likened to a beach you might find nearly 8,000 miles away in Indonesia. In the clip on UK Hidden Gems, a young couple is seen excitedly declaring: "We've just arrived at the only sandbank in the whole of the UK - check this out!".
The camera then pans around to show a beach from the top of a cliff. Travel vlogger Isaac Clams, appearing in the video, describes Pedn Vounder in Penzance, Cornwall as “the Bali of the UK” thanks to its stunning vista of golden sands and turquoise waters.
The picturesque beach is located at the eastern end of the bay and is accessible by walking along it from Porthcurno Beach at low tide or by descending a steep cliff path. It's a popular spot for hikers and beach lovers - and the occasional naturist or two.
One user commented on the post: "I was in was in Porthcurno last week and found this beach when I walked to Treen. Glad more people are discovering it!" Treen, which is its closest village, is around three-and-a-half miles east-southeast of the popular Land's End, and lies within the Cornwall National Landscape.
It is also the perfect base for cliff walking in the area as well as plenty of birdwatching opportunities. In addition, it is the nearest access point to the well-known Logan Rock, which has been referenced by famous people over the years, from Virginia Woolf to Aphex Twin. There is even a 16th century pub named after it in the village. From the village you can also explore the beautiful Porthcurno Cove, which has been used for filming in Poldark. As one person explained on Tripadvisor: "We spent an afternoon here, tricky to find, but it was so worth it. Ticked all the boxes for me. Quiet, stunning and good for a swim. An ancient capstan, fishermen. Can truly switch off here.".
