Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of The Traitors, which is back on screens on New Year's Day (January 1) on BBC One. The first two series were hugely successful, with the second instalment airing at the start of 2024. Viewers saw Harry Clark winning the cash prize after successfully going unnoticed as a traitor.

The show is filmed at Ardross Castle in Scotland, which is in the Highland region of the country and is 30 miles north of Inverness, on the banks of River Alness. The 19th Century castle is set in over 100 acres of gardens and parkland and features Scottish baronial architecture. Over the years, it has been extensively renovated, but some parts have not been touched for many years.

While watching the BBC One show, it may look like the contestants stay overnight at the castle, but in fact they only eat and socialise at the venue. The contestants are then reportedly transported to and from the venue back to an unknown hotel every evening, which is believed to be near Inverness Airport.

Speaking previously about the filming location, show host Claudia Winkleman gushed: "I thought I’ve been to beautiful places. I have never been anywhere more beautiful than the Scottish highlands in my life. It felt sometimes like we were in a painting if that’s not too cheesy.

"On day two, we saw a double rainbow and everyone was like oh my gosh, and the crew were crying, there were baby deer, there was beautiful heather, there were ancient trees, and an ancient loch.". If you feel like you've seen Ardross Castle elsewhere then you're right, as the US version of the show is also filmed at the same location. The American instalment, which is hosted by acting legend Alan Cumming, sees a group of celebrities battle it out as faithfuls and traitors at the iconic location.
