The mob had had long passed under police radar before a deadly prison break which saw two police officers slaughtered “like dogs” and the successful escape of Mohammed Amra.
A senior police source told Le Parisien: “The police have never encountered a criminal group this wary and with such in-depth knowledge of police investigation methods.”.
Nicknamed "The Fly" or "La Mouche", 30-year-old Mohammed Amra is a convicted criminal who is believed to be the boss of a drug empire in France.
Police believe the savage gang are behind the fatal prison break in which two guards were brutally killed at a motorway toll station by masked gunmen in May last year.
The organised crime prosecutors’ office said that the arrested people were suspected of “participating in the preparation and execution of Amra’s escape and also aiding the concealment of the fugitive”.
