iOS 19 release date, rumours and leaks: What we know about the iPhone software update

iOS 18 only landed last September, but Apple fans are already being treated to juicy leaks about iOS 19. The next big iPhone update is rumoured to bring game-changing artificial intelligence upgrades and a completely reimagined camera app. But it’s not all smooth sailing; there’s chatter about potential delays due to the staggered rollout of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18. On the bright side, iOS 19 could be a win for anyone holding onto an older iPhone.
Will it launch on time? And what else is in store? Here’s everything we’ve heard so far about iOS 19. Although nothing is confirmed yet, Apple has historically followed a pattern for its major software updates. Based on Apple’s track record, we can expect it to unveil iOS 19 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
The event usually coincides with the release of the beta version of the latest software, with developers first in line followed by the public in mid-July. This allows testers to sample the unpolished update and flag any bugs. Following the beta period, Apple should release the final version of iOS 19 in September 2025 (possibly as early as mid-September), on the heels of the new iPhone 17 announcement.
Worryingly, there are rumblings about delays for some features for iOS 19 but, thankfully, not the actual launch. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that iOS 19's features will be released gradually, similar to how Apple Intelligence was introduced in phases in iOS 18. This indicates a prolonged rollout for iOS 19 as a whole.
