While Christmas is the best time of the year for many people, others can feel the stress of entertaining. And while the success of a festive party can seem hit or miss, a new formula rooted in data, designed to help Brits create the ultimate Christmas party has been revealed.
Called The Occasion Equation, the formula was released by Co-op, which partnered with Dr Harriet Baird, Social Psychologist from the University of Sheffield. A survey was conducted, with 2,000 participants, to 'uncover the nation's party preferences and anxieties'.
It explored all party aspects, from 'the ideal playlist and must-have snacks to the biggest party fails and most cherished traditions'. The results of the survey were then transformed into an equation, which Co-op says will guarantee success this festive season.
According to the research, more than a third of Brits (37 per cent) are opting for the convenience of pre-prepared party food, ditching the cooking marathon this Christmas. For 29 per cent of participants, mince pies are the must-have food to serve at a party.
Are you worried about hosting the perfect Christmas party? According to Co-op, there is a simple formula you can follow to ensure a fun gathering (stock image). Meanwhile, according to the survey, more than 90 per cent polled believes showing up to a party without a gift is a major faux pas.
When it comes to the gift, almost half of Brits (44 per cent) see a bottle of wine as the ultimate gift for a host. Meanwhile, more than a quarter (26 per cent) believe party food is the best way to win over the hearts (and stomachs) of their fellow guests.
