Police in the northwestern region of Brittany posted images of the bizarre scene on Facebook, showing the campervan balancing in a ditch with its back wheels suspended in the air.
In an initial post captioned "exploit or miracle", police said they were hoping to locate the driver "as quickly as possible".
Describing the driver as either "intrepid or blessed", they said they "sincerely hoped" they and any passengers were ok. Be the first to get Breaking News.
