Dr Hilary Jones made an epic return to ITV's Lorraine following surgery on his foot. The 71-year-old, who is a regular on Lorraine, had been missing from the popular morning programme for a number of weeks due to his recent health woes. But the star made a comeback on Thursday (January 23) to provide viewers and presenter Lorraine Kelly with an update.

Wearing an orthopaedic boot, Dr Hilary said: "I had a little disagreement with my Achilles tendon and a little bony spur at the back of my heel, so that had to be gone." The TV star also shared that his recent surgery reminded him of what it's like to be a patient again.

Probing further, Lorraine also asked when Dr Hilary would have his boot removed. He shared: "I come out of high heels in about two weeks, I adjust the heel height every week," he confessed referring to the boot. Lorraine questioned: "Is it driving you mad?".

Dr Hilary replied: "It's driving me crazy! But I can actually shower now, which is good.". The star also shared that "it's nice to be back" on the ITV programme. Lorraine also agreed as she admitted that other members of staff had been asking about his whereabouts.

Recently, Dr Hilary shared that he suffers from gout, which is sometimes called the "Victorian disease". Warning about the effects, he explained that modern indulgent lifestyles are contributing to a rise in cases in the UK. The GP, who also appears on ITV's Good Morning Britain, revealed that he experiences the typical symptoms of the condition, such as discolored nails, joint pain that intensifies at night, and chronic fatigue.
