But despite 40 years of TV success under her belt, Lorraine Kelly has revealed she still struggles with 'working class cringe' when she attends glitzy showbiz events. The presenter, 65, has revealed in a new interview that despite her fame she hasn't forgotten her roots, saying: 'I don't even know if I have got confidence.
'I've still got a wee bit of that working class cringe, where you think if you're somewhere posh, someone is going to tap you on the shoulder and say ''I'm sorry, you'll have to leave.''. Speaking in a new interview with Women's Weekly, Lorraine added that she has always been grateful to her parents for instilling an appreciation for the written words, having grown up in a working class household where money was tight.
She added: 'That was probably the best gift that my mum and dad could ever give to me. We might not have been rich as far as money goes, but in terms of education, culture and appreciation of books, we were.'. Reflecting on the interview that has left her the most star-struck, Lorraine named Oprah Winfrey as the star that she was most nervous to chat to. She said: 'I absolutely loved talking to Oprah Winfrey. I was very nervous about it because, obviously, she's the queen of everything, but she could not have been nicer. She put me at ease - that's supposed to be my job. She was fantastic and such a pro.'.
